Austin Orwig

currently serving as the District #6 Bargaining Unit Representative, embarked on his firefighting journey while attending Bates Technical College’s Fire Science program. His dedication led him to join the East Olympia Fire Department in 2017 as a resident volunteer. After successfully testing for a full-time position in 2019, Austin transitioned to becoming a full-time firefighter in 2020. Throughout his tenure, he actively participated in numerous training and union events, demonstrating his commitment to professional development and community engagement. Recognized for his leadership qualities, Austin assumed the role of Float Lieutenant in 2021. His exemplary performance and dedication were further acknowledged in 2023 when he was appointed as the Bargaining Unit Representative, showcasing his continued growth and contribution to the fire service community.
